Bicycle Access through Road Closures

When local streets are closed for traffic management purposes, it is very important to maintain bicycle access. This street is part of a Perth Bicycle Network (PBN) Local Bicycle Route and links, via an underpass under West Coast Highway, to an adjoining suburb.
Good Features:
  • Gate does not block the whole roadway.
  • Access provided for cyclists at both sides of the gate.
Not so Good Features:
  • Gates would not show up at night. Posts should be white and have standard reflective treatment.
  • An edgeline leading up to the gate would also highlight the gap for cyclists.
