Bicycle Access through Road Closures

When local streets are closed for traffic management purposes, it is very important to maintain bicycle access. [These examples are from the City of Unley, Adelaide, South Australia.]
Good Features:
  • Gap through road closure caters for 2-way bike traffic.
  • Good signage and use of bike logos on pavement.
  • Surface is level with road, i.e. no ramps.
Not so Good Features:
  • Reflective tape on grab rails and posts does not meet guidelines.
  • Centre line marking should be symetrical with respect to the grab rails.
