RAC 1:400,000 Maps

The Royal Automobile Club of W.A. (RACWA) publishes several maps to 1:400,000 scale including Perth Region, Lower South West and Albany Region. These show all paved roads and some dirt roads, as well as many places of interest.

These maps are available from RACWA offices for a few dollars each.

Public Transport

Perth doesn't make any provision for bikes on suburban buses.

See Transperth for info about bikes on trains. During peak hours bikes are only allowed to go counter to peak flow and can't use Perth station but on every line the last station before Perth is within very short cycling distance of the city. McIver station, and City West are close and have good shared paths into the city. Train stations are shown on train maps on the Transperth website.

Bike lockers are available at many stations. Fremantle offers a better welcome to cyclists. See Freo BUG's parking page.

There is very little provision for bicycles on regional public transport. A couple of 'meat hooks' are available on the train to Bunbury (Australind). Some cyclists have had negative experiences eg being refused transport to Collie by bus and the train would not offload a bike at Brunswick Junction, so that the cyclist would have to go to Bunbury and ride back.

End of trip facilities in the city

The City of Perth has the Rest Centre located on the Upper Level at the Perth Train Station. The Centre provides lockers and showers for a fee.

Admission - 40cents
Small locker hire - $4.00
Large locker hire - $7.00
Shower facilities - $5.00

Opening hours are:
Monday - Thursday - 7am to 10:15pm
Friday & Saturday - 7am to 12am
Sunday - 7am to 9:15pm
