Trails Master Plan

The Shires of Mundaring and Kalamunda, in conjunction with the Department of Environment & Conservation have asked consultants Ecoscape to produce a Trails Master Plan for the two shires.

They want comments from users of the trails. If you ride any of the trails, now is the opportunity to get in your two bobs worth.

Some of the trails that come to mind are:

KEP Track, goes from Mundaring Weir to Northam.
Railway Reserve Heritage Trail, a circuit that goes from Pechey Road, Swan View to Mundaring, back to Pechey Road, with a panhandle from Mt. Helena to Wooroloo.
Mundaring Loop, Mundaring to Mundaring Weir and return.
Lake Leschenaultia Circuit.
John Forrest National Park.

Then there are the trails that join the two shire:
The Munda Biddi. Kattamorda and in Kalamunda shire, the Little Ovens Circuit and the Railway Heritage Trail from Kalamunda to Pickering Brook.

These are well known trails, but there are others, not so well known.   A good one is a rail formation that goes from the RRHT at Ash Road almost to the Lakes Road House and then follows the Great Eastern Hwy towards Wooroloo.   This trail is blocked by the Prisons department for about 1 km but would make a good circuit between Chidlow and Wooroloo if access could be granted.

The Survey can be found on www.mundaring.wa.gov.au and follow the links via recreation to Trails Masterplan Survey (pdf). Survey closes 18 July
